Seminole County is studying safety changes on two Sanford corridors: West 25th Street from Hardy Avenue to Park Drive, and U.S. 17-92 from West 27th Street to West 18th Street. The roads are the first locations in its road-safety audit effort.
Spectrum News reported that possible measures on 25th Street include a pedestrian refuge island, a lower speed limit, a raised median or a shared-use path. The county identified five traffic deaths along that corridor between 2018 and 2022.
The work remains a study of possible improvements. County officials described the options as preliminary, with no fixed construction timetable or identified project funding, according to the reporting.
